Is social media affecting the way we communicate with other?

Text messaging, twittering, and emailing have become the prominent method of communication.

In the past, getting in contact with a person involved writing a letter in a formal format or calling them on the phone.  Now, communication with an individual can be as simple as an acronym to get straight to the point.  Text messaging and postings on Facebook are the most common places to see acronyms such as: ttyl (talk to you later), lol (laugh out loud), tmi (too much information), and many more.  Sometimes single letters can be equivalent to an entire word!  These acronyms are meant to convey a short straightforward message or display an action which would otherwise be difficult to depict through text.

What is important to consider is whether this new way of writing is changing how we communicate.

Are we becoming more antisocial?  Or are we becoming too involved with our gadgets and less involved with our peers?

People are constantly living through a virtual world where they pay more attention to their electronic devices rather than trying to have interpersonal communication with one another.  Social media is in fact changing how we communicate but not in such a manner in which it ruins our relationships.

The changing of communication methods has not affected how we communicate in a negative manner just in a different way.  Conversations are becoming more straightforward and by using less words.  Sometimes statements as those seen on Twitter can impact the people reading them just as a book or article would do.  Creativity and simplicity are becoming the main priority of getting a message exposed.  The most factors to maintaining good communication is to remember to use social networking etiquette and not pay more attention to your phone than the person in front of you.

Learn the advantages and disadvantages of bone grafting

What is bone grafting?

Bone grafting is done to preserve and restore the area where natural bone has been diminished or lost.  Getting bone grafting done will increase the bone density at the graft site which will allow for greater stability of a dental implant or bridge.  Dental implants require the foundation to be stable and therefore bone grafting is essential for placing dental implants.  In order to determine where the bone grafting is needed a dentist must review the x-ray and compare it to what is seen visually.  The grafting is then placed in the area and is sealed and stitched back into its place.

Healing time

This is crucial to the success of bone grafting and the progress made must be checked by the dentist with x-rays to discover the bone growth.  The healing time for bone grafting varies from patient to patient but will usually take a few months.  Once the bone has stabilized and grown into the socket properly, the implant can then be placed in the sturdy bone.  Bone grafting allows a level workplace for future dental treatments to be done.

Alloplastic Grafting

There are different options for grafts, but the most common is Alloplastic grafting.  Alloplastic grafts are made from synthetic materials which emulate natural bone.  This type of graft does not create any risk of disease transfer and can be done in one procedure.  Bone grafting is extremely beneficial and is a procedure with promising results.  To discuss other bone grafting options, it is best to consult with your dentist.
